MARY JEAN “MJ” EMERSON, CPA is a Manager in the Business Consulting Services Department. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of New Orleans with a degree in Accounting. In her career, she has held positions with Big Four accounting firms, private industry and as a sole practitioner. MJ’s areas of focus include business valuations and litigation support, consulting and compliance in the areas of income tax, sales tax and tax incentive programs (such as the Enterprise Zone Program) as well as evaluation and implementation of internal control systems.

MJ is a member of Beta Alpha Psi, Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies and the UNO Alumni Association. She is a Board Member of the East Jefferson General Hospital Foundation, The Rich Mauti Cancer Fund and the Ikebana International New Orleans Chapter. She is also a member of the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of CPAs.
